Scripture Union Daily Guide 7th April 2025 Outline

Samuel the great servant of God finally exits here (1 Samuel 25:1). It is critical that after all the exploits, we should ensure to end well and gloriously. Funerals are scriptural but must be godly and evangelistic to achieve gains for the kingdom.

Wickedness does not pay anything good to anyone. Nabal was indeed wicked in his words and actions (1 Samuel 25:10-11,15-16,17b). He was extremely selfish. Notice how many personal pronouns “I” and “my” are in 1 Samuel 25:11 alone! See what God calls such a person in the parable in Luke 12:13-21. But his wife was the opposite – an unequal yoke indeed (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). She was humble, respectful, and full of godly wisdom (1 Samuel 25:18-19, cf. 1 Samuel 25:36).

1 Samuel 25:14-16 show us the kind of discipline that David maintained among his marauding band of “guerrilla” troops. By contrast, how did Nabal’s servants see him (1 Samuel 25:17)? As a Christian leader, what impression do you leave in your place of work or in your home? Our actions speak louder than any good sermon we may preach. Read 1 Samuel 25:12-13,20-22 and note how God delivered David from avenging himself.

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for times I have been ungrateful to you and people you have sent to bless me.
